The House Designs

The Architectual Response

During the consultations, a detailed analysis of architectural styles was undertaken within Bathurst by the Andrews Neil Group. Based on the observations made and the results of the community event process, a range of 16 houses was developed which were in every way unique to the project.

The range of houses was conceived as a modern interpretation of the sub-regional vernacular. All models are distinctly modern, open planned and well appointed with many homes featuring wrap around verandas, some with picket style balustrades and all with corrugated iron roofs.

Not only were the houses specifically designed for Bathurst, they were specifically designed for different locations within the site, and as such these models are only interchangeable within a given house type; for example, A1, B or D.

Subtle variations in orientation, street relationship and access requirements, demanded a range of building types be considered and even more importantly, their precise placement within the site.

In essence, all houses have north facing primary living and main bedrooms whilst service spaces are located to the south and west. All homes are single storey and all are disabled access compliant.
